Alexandria, N.Y. — A man died in a Syracuse hospital Tuesday after his motorcycle collided with a box truck on Nov. 2, troopers said.

Nicholas A. Bellman, 51, of Alexandria Bay, was driving east on Route 26 when the box truck turned onto the highway and onto the path of Bellman’s 2005 Honda motorcycle, state police spokesman Trooper Jack Keller said.

Bellman was ejected from the motorcycle and was later airlifted to Upstate University Hospital where he was in critical condition, Keller said. The box truck’s driver, Randy J. Murphy, 21, of LaFargeville, was not injured, Keller said.

Bellman died from his injuries after being hospitalized for 20 days, Keller said.

Murphy was given tickets for unlicensed operation and failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign shortly after the crash, Keller said. Troopers are still investigating the incident, Keller said.
